OK Barn Olympic fans...  You've been tracking all the medals at the Beijing games.  But what you've really been waiting for is the official results from the Barn's 2008 Ancient Olympics!!!  Your wait is over!

But first, we have to thank a bunch of people who helped make the party such a fantastic success!  The party was much bigger than the four of us - we simply could not have done it without everyone who pitched in!

Scott, Carla and Bill started helping up prepare for the party weeks in advance.  Scott built the chariots, designed the official sign and more.  Carla helped us paint and plan.  On the day before the party, Liz, Rick, Jeremy and Becky came down to help us paint, build and prepare all day long!

Following the opening ceremonies at the beach, Nicole, Anthony, Jeremy and Troy carried the Olympic torch through the streets of Spring Lake to the Barn. 

Becky, Donna, Kinzie, Justin, Nicole, Mina and Woodstock did a fantastic job working our welcome table!


And now for the Olympic medal count...

Drum roll please....

Eight teams competed in the Ancient Olympic games - Pink, Gold, Green, Yellow, Orange, Purple, Red and Blue.  People were assigned to teams randomly - each had between 8 and 9 people.

Mark Germanski kicked off the games with the Olympic Egg Toss!  And he added a twist - each Olympian wore an eye patch!  After a hail of eggs flew everywhere (an on many people), Carla and Joe brought home the gold medal for the Pink team.  Glen & Ed brought home the Silver for the Gold team and Becky & Kinsey brought home the "poop" for team Green.

Carla and Bill hosted the Olympic Sack Races!  To make things tougher, they purchased double sacks for two people to hop at the same time!  After many laughs and a few spectacular crashes, Jamie and Mina captured the gold medal for the Orange team.  Alex & Scott took the Silver for team Green, and Toka & Troy took the "poop" for team Yellow.

Scott hosted the spectacular Olympic Chariot races!  And he added a twist - each rider had to fill a cup of water and race it to the other end of the course to fill a cup.  For the game, we purposely designed our lawn to be very bumpy!  Blinding speed, fast braking and strategy ruled the race!  Andy & Liz won the Gold Medal for the Pink team.  Jamie & Julie took the Silver for team Orange, and Donna, Cody and Kimberly took the "Poop" for team purple.

Becky hosted the Gladiator Fighting!   No, you could not hold your foam weapon with your hands.  Hands were behind your back!  Your "weapon" was between your legs, and your goal was to smack your opponent across the face!  The competition was brutal as Olympian after Olympian was "dick slapped" to defeat.  After the final epic battle to near death, Rob defeated Toka to win Gold for team Orange.  Toka won Silver for the Yellow Team, and Amy & Norine switched off to bring the "poop" to team Red.

The Olympic Balance Beam was next.  Each athlete performed a jump, a 360 degree turn, and the grand finale dismount!  Steve officiated as Scott, Toka and Carla judged.  Allegations were made that the judges were indeed bribed...  Rest assured, the Barn is still investigating these allegations.  In the end, poise and concentration under extreme pressure was the key...  The only one legged man at the party - Nat - took the gold for the pink team after a breathtaking performance.  Jonathan won Silver for team Red.  Mina the poop for team yellow.  According to Steve, we had not seen this level of competition since the 82' games in Bulgaria!

Olympic Beer Pong, hosted by Paul, began hours before sundown.  The competition was fierce as teammates worked together to defeat their rivals and enter the semi-finals.  Ping Pong balls flew and beer flowed.  The championship game was the final event of the 2008 Ancient Olympic Games.  Those who witnessed it described the competition as "awesome" and "intense".   In the end John & Bill won glory (and gold) for team purple by defeating Rick & Steve who took the Silver for team Yellow.   Joe and Splat won the poop for team pink.  Moments later, the Barn's two kegs ran dry...

In all, team pink won the most medals with 3 gold and one poop.  Team Orange came in second with two gold and one silver.  Team Yellow came in third with two Silver and two "poops".  At the other end of the spectrum, team Blue didn't win a single medal!  Not even "poop"!

Chris did such a fantastic job, you'll actually feel as though you were at the party!

Take off a few weeks before you start training for 2012!  You deserve it!
